Hi Jack--
I have every issue of
Tiger Beat from 65 and 66, so if it was indeed
Tiger Beat you were in (and not 16 or any other mag from a different
publisher, which I wouldn't have), I can look and see what I can
find. Do you have any recollection of how the band was featured? On a
news page , record review or part of a larger article? Would be
helpful if you can think of any clues to help me find it. --Lisa

Hi Lisa- actually my memory is pretty
dim from those days! I kind of think it was a single page,
there may have been photographs and the article spoke of
Mick and Keith teaching us how to tune our guitars on stage
although that never happened. Jad and Jeremy may have been
mentioned in the article as well.
I understand
Tiger Beat started in mid 65 and by the end of 1966
the New Generation was disbanded so it might only be some
where in a 12 month time span.
I wish I could give you more info, I
have been recently reconstructing my memory for a website
and frankly just remembered the
Tiger Beat thing a couple of days ago. You might
enjoy seeing some of the New Generation info I have been
collecting, if you go to <jacknadelle.com>
and follow the link to New Generation might be fun to see.
Thanks Lisa, isn't the internet great?
On the new Generation page I am
collecting correspondence, I would like to add ours if you
don't mind?

Hi Jack-- here is the
cover plus the pages your band appeared on. Did
Keith or Paul ever come through with those songs???
Let me know if you have any trouble seeing these images and I'll
send separate files. I only have this one copy, though I have seen
this issue turn up on EBay for a reasonable price if you're looking
to buy it. --Lisa:)

Lisa Sutton!! You are amazing, I am so happy you found those
blurbs regarding the new Generation. I was looking to buy it,
but I guess I'll need to check e-bay as you suggested.
Until that time can you send my slightly higher res scans? I
will be glad to pay you for your trouble. Speaking of money,
what do you do? I mean why do you have these fan magazines?
Are you a collector or archivist like that? Any rate I am
glad you do have them!! Thanks again!
Jack ( I am the 2nd from the left, I think I was about 15
years old in that pic)
I have also been posting on my website e-mail correspondence
regarding the band-I really want to use the few e-mails we
have exchanged do you mine?

Hi Lisa, Thanks again for the
Tiger Beat! New Generation pages. I
already posted on my site. Check it out, looks good!

I was looking at your website and posted a link from my page, let
me know if you don't want it but your site looks interesting. Did you
notice the photograph on the same page as the new
generation, right below ours? The Modern Folk Quintet? Later to
become the Modern Folk Quartet-. That guy on the right side of the
photo is, I'm pretty sure,
Henry Diltz, do you know him? He is a
really well know photographer who photographed all the rock and
rollers thru the 60's, 70's, 80s and beyond.
Coincidently, I have been a photographer for the last 35 years too.
In the early 90's I helped Henry publish a book with a publishing
company from
Japan. Small world...
Jack
Hi Jack--
The site looks great! Don't you love that crazy cover with Peter
Noone??
I noticed Henry there too! I'll have to send him a copy of the page
as well. I've known Henry for years. Just last week I did an on-
camera interview with him for the show I'm working on--I'm a segment
producer on the upcoming "Florence
Henderson Show," a talk show aimed
at Baby-Boomers and beyond that will begin airing soon on DirectTV
and
Comcast and hopefully in other markets to follow. I met Henry
when I was working at Rhino back in the mid 80s. I started in package
design, and my earliest assignments included putting together the
first round of reissues for
The Monkees when they were going through
their huge resurgence. Talk about a dream job! I work mainly in TV
these days, but I'm currently putting together a cd package for
The
Turtles, so I keep a hand in music and design. I had originally
started my web site when I had a deal to write a book about
Tiger
Beat. Sadly, after many months of negotiating a deal for the rights
to use the name
Tiger Beat in on the cover, the publication was sold
and the new owners refused to honor the deal I had worked out with
the previous publishers. The good news is
Tiger Beat is now owned by
the Lauffer family again. The bad news is the planets never lined up
properly again for me to get another deal. But the web site remains,
as well as my extensive teen 'zine collection. To borrow a line from
songwriter
Rupert Holmes, I was "born in a state of nostalgia." I
started collecting artifacts from the 60s and 70s around 1980 and
never stopped. The old magazines are a fantastic window to the past,
and it is such a kick to meet someone who actually appeared on its
pages. By the way, we also recently interviewed Lloyd Thaxton for our
show as well. Small world indeed! --Lisa :)
